NAME

MKTTY - PUPS homeostat for /dev/tty.

SYNOPSIS

mktty >& <log file>

DESCRIPTION

mktty(1) is a (suid root) filter which allows the PUPS system to make repairs to /dev/tty. Typically, this need to be done after another suid root program has unlinked a symlink which points to /dev/tty. This would not be needed if POSIX included a unsymlink() call which removes a symbolic link (as opposed to the object it is pointing at).
